I became inspired to create something using the MOST dissonant intervals.
Using the Plomp and Levelt model to create a single-octave dissonance curve, I notated points where the slope was zero (visually, these are the peaks). The points were then sorted by dissonance value to find the five most-dissonant intervals. By including the root, a hexatonic (6-note) scale was scripted with these harsh, NON-Just intervals.
The Hexatonic Dissonance Scale used:
0 Cents / A4 / Hz Ratio 1.000
81.166 Cents / Bb4(-19) / Hz Ratio 1.048
408.333 Cents / C#5(+8) / Hz Ratio 1.266
638.481 Cents / D#5(+38) / Hz Ratio 1.446
763.184 Cents / F5(-37) / Hz Ratio 1.554
1134.32 Cents / G#5(+38) / Hz Ratio 1.930
There are many different ways to determine dissonant intervals; this is but one method. Depending on what combination of harmonics are added to the fundamental, the notes will shift intervals.
